In a Vase Monday, July 15th

I was in a rush to use my ‘Chantilly Lace’ Snapdragon and was a bit too ambitious as like tulips, snapdragons tend to take on their own direction after a while! I was so drawn to the peachy colours and the orange Gazania which closes as soon as the light dims, I still thought I could put something together! It looked okay for a very short time but quickly became disheveled looking. However, here it is with the Snapdragons determined to be vertical!

Just Peachy

Snapdragon ‘Chantilly Lace’, Bupleurum, Orange Gazania, Orlaya, Mallow, Malva moshata and Godetia.

As the arrangement became less attractive I satisfied my need for order with another Ikebana, so easy and quick!

A Little Zing

Asiatic Lily, Zinnia, Lady’s Mantle and Larkspur

The temperatures have been in the mid thirties for the last two weeks with no break in the forecast and no rain predicted so I think the blooms I have currently may start looking tired quite soon! I fear it really is time to start replacing my typical herbaceous border plants with a lot more drought tolerant plants.

    Both designs are striking.

Both arrangements are lovely! Some plants insist on drooping after being cut – I have various foliage fillers that do that, although most recover (eventually).

Some definitely have minds of their own!

Two lovely arrangements! I do like the first vase which is just perfect for putting tall upright flowers like snapdragons in. And the Zinnia in the second vase is a beauty.

Still can’t reply from my laptop but seem to be able to do so on ny phone…very odd

I love the balance of soft greens alongside the blooms in your main vase, and your ikebana offering is a compact delight – thanks for sharing them both

I’ll have another look at settings – I wonder if anyone else has the same issue?!

The anonymous was Cathy! I don’t know why it didn’t recognise me as I was able to click on the WordPress logo. The WordPress/Facebook/email logos are not visible on my laptop and clicking in the comments box does nothing at all. There is a separate box for an email address but only in conjunction with a ‘subscribe’ button, and although I don’t know what would happen if I clicked it, I don’t really want to subscribe. Perhaps I will try it next time and see… In the meantime there will have been weeks when I haven’t commented because I have not had time to go back and use another device – sorry!

Cathy – please don’t worry about it but thank you for the compliment!I have looked at the template on my phone and desktop and all appear okay. Maybe sent the question to wordpress. they helped me when I was setting up. It will be some teeny tiny glitch!

Absolutely beautiful…both vases! I adore snapdragons so I really liked those especially the color.

Thank you – I love this new Chantilly Lace. The flowers are so different!
