In a Vase, Monday August 19

A busy few days of dead heading and weeding in the return of temperatures too hot for my liking meant I am a little behind in my routine for this blog. After ‘perspiring’ it out , my body just falls alseep over the last cup of tea for the day!!Funny how that is!

We are back on track today as nothing is more fun than collecting a few flowers and trying to make them look pleasing. Of course individually they all are beautiful anyway but the creativity with what the garden provides is a sweet challenge. I often long for armfuls of the flowers I grow but the toss up between, leave them in the garden or pluck them for indoor enjoyment is real. In the heat, the flowers last longer inside so that helps the decision. Thank goodness the evenings are getting cooler and the recent torrential downpours have helped the reservoir and our watering routine.

When I was choosing cut flower seeds this last winter, I commented to myself how I chosen a lot of pink, not a conscious decision but my choices are now coming to fruition and as I peruse what I might pick, my bouquet always seems to be on that spectrum of course.

Melange

I weeded out those Zinnias on the redder side of ‘pink’ and popped them in here making an airy little vase I called ‘Sparks.’

‘Melange’ above contains, Oregano, Oreganum vulgare; Garden Phlox, Phlox paniculata; Yarrow, Achillea millefolium; Bells of Ireland, Molucella laevis; Snapdragon Antirrhinum; Laceflower, Lace Flower, Didiscus; Zinnia and Verbena bonariensis.

This little vase contains Zinnias, Love-in-a-Mist, Nigella; Yarrow, Achillea millefolium and Starflower, Scabiosa

I wanted something bigger for the gallery that I take flowers to each week so put this together. I was not happy with how it presents but it is bigger!. Japanese Anemone, Anemone hupehensis; Gooseneck Loosestrife, Lysimachia clethroides and Flame Grass,Miscanthus purpurea. I think it needs a bit more grass.
