I have been saying for weeks that the flowers in my garden have been dwindling and to be honest I am amazed and quite thrilled that I can still find a few bits. It seems violet is the colour range as both the Michaelmas Daisy, Symphyotrichum. and the Fall Flowering Monkshood Aconitum carmichaelii fall in that range. I wonder if the purple colour of mourning came from these flowers. Must look up the origin. I was surprised to find a few annual Larkspur, Delphinium and used Feverfew, Tanacetum leaves to fill this out. The dead lower branches of Harry Lauder Walking Stick, Corylus avellana are so useful for framework when you need it.
Creative instincts will have to take over after this week as we wait for the first sprinkles of white stuff and more hard frosts.
