In A Vase, Monday November 4

Well, this is truly it for fresh flowers from the garden! The Ivy, Hedera helix ‘Baltica‘ will usually stay green all winter. I brought a couple of still flowering Geraniums, Perlagonium into the house and so, as November takes on a more thoughtful, reflective tone, they have substituted for poppies in this recognition of Remembrance Day, November 11th.

While I love the misty sometimes grey, damp days of November they have a serious overtone of both happy and sad personal memories for me.

In zone 3, I expect that it’s just short of miraculous to find fresh flowers in the garden, Jenny! I hope you uncover more happy memories than sad ones as you reflect on the past this November.

I love the Baltica Ivy, haven’t seen any in years. Amelia

Interesting! Most people have to fight with Ivy but Ivy fights to grow here so I have enjoyed this one for many years.

Oh! I am able to type this using my laptop – something is different…hurrah!

I am sorry November brings back mixed memories for you, but I hope your garden still brings you moments of joy, even if it is only ivy and scraps of rescued pelargonium

Strange though it sounds, I actually love November. It is a reminder of the beauty of life’s cycles and lends appreciation to the next seasonal change! Glad the laptop worked today!
