Sedum, Autumn Joy, Stonecrop,
Hylotelephium telephium ‘Herbstfreude’ (‘Autumn Joy’), formerly Sedum telephium ‘Autumn Joy’
- hardy to Zone 3
- valuable fall plant
- bees love it
- blooms late August into September
- tolerates light frosts
- drought tolerant
- likes sun
- will tolerate some shade
- light pink flowers darken to deep dusty rose
- 12 to 24 inches height
- succulent water retaining leaves

Another star, albeit pink, in the garden for Fall. This plant can provide an anchor in the perennial border when many other plants are starting to lose lustre, develop changing foliage and become weary. Autumn Joy remains solid, sparkles in the first frosts and lends that much needed colour in September. It combines well with Fall Asters and especially the hardy Chrysanthemum ‘Clara Curtis’. I like it with the red veined Sorrel, Rumex sanguineus.
