I’m a bit late this week but new blooms are slowing down. The Bee Balm is still magnificent and injects a great blast of colour into the garden. The roses will be coming into their second bloom shortly and perennials such as Maltese Cross, Cranesbills and Yellow Loosestrife are offering their second albeit smaller flowers as I dead headed right after blooming. The Globe Thistles, Erigerons and Rudbeckias are the stars at the moment. Shy Astilbes bloom in their shadows. I have not been thrilled with my annual cutting flowers. The cool damp spring with cold nights followed by ridiculous heat, drought and then pounding monsoon type short lived rain did not make it easy for them. But zone three is a climate of extremes and somewhat to be expected! There is always next year and I shall modify which annuals I will try to grow.
So for the weekly record:

Garden Corners:

This is the time of year I start thinking about fall flowers, the Chrysanthemums and Asters. We are not quite at that transition but almost. The time to plan for them however is the spring when the greenhouses carry them. There maybe some still there so this is a good time to look at the colours and varieties if there are any left.
