In a Vase, Monday August 12

Thunderstorms and slightly cooler temperatures have made for an interesting few days of ‘in the garden’ or ‘in and out of the garden’ ! Lots of different blooms but just a few of each and many with short stems after the drought.

This little favourite vase of my Mother’s reminded me of gumdrops. It is just the right size for short stemmed Asters, Zinnias, Knautia and Didiscus

Gumdrops

….and then the other ‘odds’ went into the rectangular glass vase, which I am obsessed with at the moment. It is so perfect for showing off individual flowers!

Hosta, Cosmos, Dara/Daucus, Verbena bonariensis, Larkspur, Love-in-a-Mist Nigella, Snapdragon Antirrhnum, Zinnia, Cleome, Lace flower Didiscus and a peachy Knautia.

Odds

Just letting the flowers do the talking today!! Gotta walk the dogs.

I love both vases! The lace flower is wonderful, I have never seen one. I like the leaf backdrop on the glass vase. Amelia

I see what you mean about the gum drops, with the individual blobs of colour, but must confess to liking the second vase more -it has an almost wild flower look to it, and for some reason I find these plain glass cubic vases really appealing (Cathy)

It’s my favourite too, I admit! The tricky part is getting the stems in water to look reasonably balanced!

That first sweet vase is lovely. And then the drama and art of the second was stunning. Wonderful.
