Although we have experienced several frosts now, some of -5C, there are still a number of plants soldiering on. Most have been blooming for the last three weeks or so but for those of us who like to keep the colour going for as long as possible, I thought a record of what is able to bloom at this time was important. All these photos have been taken in the last few days in my garden. If you want to secure fall colour in zone three these are the plants to look for in the nursery next spring! I will include a shrub or two as well as like the trees that turn colour in the fall, their transformation provides so much beauty at this time of year.

There are a number of annuals which persist into fall, Gazanias, Snapdragons, Antirrhinums, Bells of Ireland, Larkspur and my favourite Verbena bonariensis.
