In A Vase, Monday March 23, 26

I have flowers! Yay! Small in number and size but flowers nevertheless, and in my own garden. Spring indeed has arrived on time despite the weierdest winter of ups and downs.

In my vase are two Hellebore flower stems, some Pachysandra, which remained green under the snow and leaf debris plus a skinny Hyacincith. The Hyacinths I replant, take several years to build their strength after forcing. I added some plum twigs in the hopes the blossom buds will burst into tiny white flowers. The flowers all fertilise every year but the plums taste awful. It is one of those trees that should come out but it gives a little privacy and I like the spring blossom.

Although I am looking forward to the time when I am spoiled for choice in the garden, this time of year is probably one of the most exciting. I can’t wait each day to inspect the beds and borders to see what is coming up.

Thanks Tracy. Morning walkabouts are such a ritual for gardeners aren’t they!

A lovely arrangement Jenny. I like the round glass vase. Hope the plum blossom opens for you. 😁

Thany you Cathy it was more of ‘plunk in what you have’ but Things are livening up every day. How did your greenhouse do over winter? I am just starting to move a few things out of the house and into our ‘lean-to’.

What an exciting time for you, finally having blooms coming on board – it makes me feel spoilt here, having things coming on in a rush at this time of year! 😉We had a plum tree when we first came that tended to fruit just every few years – the plums were lovely but it was so unreliable and was fruiting less and less often, so we took it out. I hope your plum twigs do bloom for you, further enhancing your sweet little posy

It is exciting and wanting to hurry things along does not always work!! The plum blossom is stuck but the buds are pretty! other things are definitely moving and showing signs of life!
