The Hodge Podge versus Simplicity
A mish mash of spring flowers Sweet Rocket,Hesperis matronalis, Hellebores, Sweet Cicely, Myrrhis odorata, Cushion Spurge, Euphorbia polychroma, Columbine, Aquelegia, Sage, Salvia azurea, Cress, Lepidium sativum.
( Sweet Rocket is labelled with a bad word, invasive, in my part of the world, which is such a shame because its fragrance is so lovely.)
It is cool again and snipping these from the damp garden reminded me of winter. It has been raining a lot with cooler nightime temperatures. My transplanted annuals are shivering in their roots, poor things. Such is the climate these days it seems 30C one day and 8C the next.
Thank goodness for resilient plants. Irises never fail – these common variety bearded iris show up every year on time regardless of the weather!
