To think I have missed two very floriferous weeks and not posted! I so admire those of you who are able to keep this up on a regular basis! I seem to spend a lot of time keeping order in the garden.
So here we go – mixed weather did not stop the Ranunculus or Peonies from flowering both at the same time. I wish I could get the Ranunculus to bloom a little earlier in order to be able to enjoy each flower to the fullest but as with other living things, they peak on their own terms. I love peonies to shine without too many other distractions as they are so beautiful. My first vase is a vintage teapot with white Peonies and Hosta leaves. I am afraid I do not know either variety. The second vase, another vintage teapot with Lady’s Mantle, Alchemilla mollis and mixed Peonies, again varieties unknown although I think the deeper pink may be ‘Sarah Barnhardt’.

As the Ranunculus was blooming at the same time as the Peonies , I was able to make a few bouquets to give away and the Peonies that got away on me I have hung to dry for use in the fall.
This next vase is a mix of Ranunculus, self-seeded seed heads of Penny Cress,Thlaspi arvense, Sedge, Luzulu nivea, Feverfew, Tanacetum, self-seeded Bachelor Buttons, Centaurea cyanus, and Bowman’s Root, Gillenia trifoliata. This mix gives off a totally different vibe to the romantic Peony blooms.

To those of you in Europe I hope you cool down soon. I believe B.C is about to heat up although the soccer has a lot of the population heated up already!
